How many different and contradictory attitudes can be found in the “myth” of Saint Jerome? The beauty of studying on our own, the selfish desire to avoid problems, the focus on ourselves, the escape from a difficult situation, a melancholic feeling towards our past life, the unconfessed longing for the mundane world, a narcissistic self-complacency… and many others.
